Eden Acre, LLC is owned and operated by a vegan family and both health and the environment are of the utmost importance to us. This is why we take every step to ensure that our products are of the highest quality. The soil our crops are grown in is certified organic and made with 100% coconut husk fiber. Our seeds are certified organic and GMO free. The water used to feed the plants has been run through a filtration system to ensure that all chlorines, chloramines, VOCs, and pathogens have been removed. Every batch of microgreens is nourished with certified organic nutrients called Azomite to ensure that the microgreens are packed with the maximum amount of nutrition possible. No pesticides or herbicides are ever used during any stage of the growing process. We are currently in the process of getting our Microgreens certified organic by the USDA.
Sustainable agriculture is extremely important for the environment and the future of the human race. The goal of sustainable practices is to coexist with the environment rather than destroy it. Hundreds of thousands of acres of land are being destroyed every year for the purposes of agriculture. This is being done to keep up with the demand of the ever growing human population. Since microgreens are grown vertically, they require much less space when compared to traditional farming. The combination of less growing space paired with a significantly higher nutritional value means that microgreens are capable of nourishing many more people all while using far less land.
In addition to this, all of the packaging we use is 100% biodegradable and compostable. It may look like your standard plastic carton or produce bag, but it is actually made of eco friendly and renewable Polylactic Acid (PLA), a resin made from corn starch, tapioca, or sugar cane. While typical petroleum based plastic can take thousands of years to breakdown, PLA only takes about 45-90 days. And since it is made from natural and renewable plant sources, it is not leaching toxic chemicals into your food or the environment.
